Dist. VI, FF Contest Board: Carl W. Fries – Carl has been active in model airplanes for the past 37 years, having started in Chicago, then moving to St. Louis, then Pennsylvania and finally back to Crestwood, Missouri where he resides with his family. Now president of the Kirkwood Thermaleers and a very active modeler, indoors and outdoors.

Takes credit for starting indoor flying in St. Louis back in 1930 and was instrumental in the revival of indoor flying recently in that area. Corresponds with many modelers throughout the country and because of his participation in free flight and indoor contests throughout the Middlewest comes in contact with modelers where there is most always an eventual discussion of rules. Has done some preliminary work in the possible formation of a National Free Flight Society (NFFS). Is more than qualified to represent his District as a Free Flight Contest Board Member because of his desire to promote model aviation.
