Charles R. Wood, Vice President of District XI, lives with his wife and four children at 3815 51st Ave, S. W., Seattle 16, Washington.
Chuck’s modeling interests, which he tends to in the time spared from his job as a sales representative for Johnson’s Wax Company, date back to 1931 when he first started by building shelf model kits. Being chiefly interested in Wakefield and Free Flight Scale, Chuck has held records in Classes D and E Outdoor Rubber back in 1950.
His “extracurricular” activities include membership in the Seattle Skyhawks, serving as Senior Adviser to the club and also representing them as chair of the Greater Seattle Model Council. Chuck has also served as club president in 1953 through 1954. His officiating services include directing a Wakefield contest, scale meets, and a Control Line contest since 1950, and also running club meets for the last few years.
Although this is the first time that Chuck has been elected to an AMA office, he was in on the writing of the Free Flight Scale rules of 1955.
Chuck says that the Academy can benefit the modeler by setting up rules in August or September and publishing them in December. He also believes that the AMA should obtain more national publicity for itself and its members.
