Per a letter from Gilbert Morris included in Doug’s Model Aviation Hall of Fame application, dated March 2013:
“Doug is probably best known for being the number one source here in the USA for reworked high performance engines, timers, and engine accessories. His depth of flying experience and machining skills has earned him a reputation as an expert engine man the world over. But beyond that, his real vocation is being “The Printer,” which we in free flight have almost taken for granted in his national and international publication of the monthly NFFS Digest and Annual Symposium Report over many decades.”
