Jason George is from Sultana, California, but attended high school in the neighboring city of Dinuba. He graduated with a GPA of 4.05 and was Class Salutatorian. He is now enrolled at California State University in San Luis Obispo, where he will study Fruit Science and minor in Agriculture Business.
He plans to join the family fruit growing operation when he graduates. In the meantime, a check for $5,000 has been forwarded to the university on his behalf.
An active model flier, Jason’s preference is sailplanes. He has competed extensively in local and regional contests during the past three years, gaining many high placings, including several firsts. In 1990, 1991, and 1992, Jason entered the annual National Championships and earned champion status in Two-Meter (1990), Standard, and Unlimited (1992). In his other Nats attempts, he gained second and third placings all three years in separate events. Other hobbies and sports interests include golf, water, and snow skiing, plus being a hardworking volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House program. He received many awards in high school, winning letters in Math, English, Science, and Social Studies. He also gained Academic Honors in English, Algebra I and II, Spanish II, and Social Studies.
He was appointed delegate to the Rotary-sponsored student leadership conference at Camp Royal, California, and was later designated as California delegate to the US Congressional Youth Leadership Conference held in Washington, D.C. Jason is a lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation, an organization that focuses on high academic standards.
