District 2 Candidates

John Byrne, Bayside, New York, AMA 171 (CD) seeks election to a third term as Vice-President of AMA District II based upon his well-known record of service during his first two consecutive terms of that office from 1974 through 1978. In addition to certain items of unfinished business, John is ready, able, and eager to cope with all of the NEW problems with which you and AMA are now confronted. There is no substitute for experience and John has plenty of THAT, combined with a high degree of enthusiasm and integrity. He is a lawyer, by profession, and the Vice-President of a national corporation. As a two-term Vice-President of AMA, John acquired a thorough knowledge of its internal operations, its policies and the attitudes of its personnel, and yet remained as objective as the modelers whom he represented. Not once during his four years on the Executive Council did John abstain from voting upon any of the issues presented, and he will continue to USE his Council vote at every opportunity rather than WASTE it! Recognizing the value of communication, John has never missed a District II report in Model Aviation, nor has he ever delegated that important responsibility to another.

His aeromodeling career, embracing all of its phases, began during the “Lindbergh Era” and continues with unabated pleasure and enthusiasm. Currently, active, John just completed his fifth year as Judge of RC Pattern and Scale-Flight at the Nats, and last year he served as a contestant-elected Judge at the Masters RC Pattern Team Selection Finals at Celina, Ohio. This year he was appointed a member of the AMA RC Aerobatics Team Selection Committee for the 1981 World Championships.

Your vote will enable John to keep working for and with you.
