Julie Botticello

Julie Botticello, of East Hartford, Connecticut, will attend Fordham University in the Bronx, New York City. She received $1,000 to help her on the road to a major in marketing, and a minor in language (Spanish). As a student at East Harford High, she earned a GPA of 3.93 and was fifth in her graduating class of 369.

She was named to the National Honor Society two years and was editor-in-chief of the school yearbook and a student tutor for Spanish. Other activities at home and at school included aeromodeling, reading, sewing, and cooking. She was a member of the Safe Rides Program, which provided intoxicated young people transportation home.

As a modeler, Julie belongs to SAM-7. She prefers Free Flight models and is a keen contestant. She entered the 1983 AMA Nats held in Chicopee, MA. She has entered all recent SAM-7 contests and has often acted as Assistant Contest Director for these events. As a student, she enjoyed the Spanish and Italian languages, winning awards in Spanish, and belonging to the Language Clubs for three consecutive years. She found time to work as a biology lab assistant for two years.

Listed in the Who’s Who Among American High School Students, Julie was also on the honor roll at school in every grading period. Letters of recommendation from counselors and faculty indicate that this young woman has all the qualities to pursue a very useful university career and become a valuable member of the community.
