Leo R. Holliday, District VIII Vice President. Address: 5513 Marrel St., Dallas, Texas. Leo first became an AMA member in 1946 but his activity in model aviation dates back to 1939 and his first gas model was a Stinson Reliant. His chief interest at present is Control Line speed and he suggests that regulations be developed which will make Control Line events safer for spectators.
The newly elected District VIII vice president served as president of the Sahibs Model Club in Ft. Worth for three years and directed the Control Line events for the Southwesterns in 1953 and 1954.
Leo suggests that the AMA work to establish the U.S.A. on an equal footing with FAI through coordination of the rules. He foresees a great future for model aviation with more and more contestants with higher quality flying which possibly may lead to more specialization. Leo hastens to commend Frank Huffman and Tom Lloyd for the fine work they have done in District VIII toward strengthening the AMA and in helping the modeler see the many advantages of our national organization. He hopes to be able to “take the ball” and, with a different approach, do more along this line. By keeping the District informed through its Leader members, he feels that AMA can expect solid cooperation and hard work from his area.
