Paul A. Schmitz Bradenton, Florida Leader Member and Contest Director
I have been in this hobby for 65 years. I started modeling in 1937. I have been involved in Free Flight, Control Line Stunt, Control Line Speed, Radio Control Pattern contests, and Society of Antique Modelers (SAM) events.
I joined the Toledo, Ohio Weak Signals organization and am their Life Member #1. In the 19601975 era, I flew in Radio Control Pattern. I was on the Toledo Club Show Committee for several years.
I joined SAM in 1988 and have attended several SAM Champs. In the year 2000, I was Grand Champion in ignition in Pensacola, Florida. For 25 years, I came to Florida as winter resident. In 2000, I moved here permanently. I belong to the Manatee Radio Controllers of Palmetto, Florida. I have contest directed several Old Timer contests here in Bradenton. Presently, I have been instrumental in promoting Old Timer fly-ins once a month during the winter. I am a member of SAM 40 (southeast Michigan), SAM 39 (northwest Ohio), and SAM U.S.A. Also, I belong to MECA and still retain membership in the Toledo Ohio Weak Signals club.
