Richard Lacy, of Collinsville, Illinois, is determined to become a pilot. To that end, he is studying Aeronautical Engineering at Parks College of St. Louis University in Cahokia, IL. A member of the National Honor Society while in high school, he represented his school at district competitions in engineering, mathematics, and science. His interest in aviation caused him to join the Aviation Explorers Post of the Boy Scouts of America. His membership in the school Science Club led him to enter contests in which he won awards for design and construction of a wind tunnel used for airfoil evaluation.

Richard and his father work as a team when constructing an airplane. Mr Lacy likes to build, whereas Richard likes to finish. They have won several contests with their creations, one of the finest of which is a Druine Turbulent.
